The Nakheel Assets team have had a year of significant achievements in their energy saving and sustainability initiatives. Over the last 12 months, they have implemented a range of projects, contributing to the Year of Sustainability in Dubai and reinforcing Nakheel’s commitment to environmental responsibility and innovation.

The team have implemented projects that include energy management, retrofitting & enhancements, solar energy and optimising existing assets operations. This has led to substantial savings, including a reduction of over 6,500 tonnes of carbon emissions, and saving up to 16,800 MWh of energy. Most significantly Nakheel Mall achieved a 100% reduction in its waste costs, through effective waste management strategies.

Since 2021 the team has completed 21 projects, which include 6 in waste management. These include the generation of solar energy, waste management, energy savings and water conservation, across Nakheel Mall, Ibn Battuta Mall, Circle Mall, Dragon Mart, Pavilions and residential buildings.

Looking ahead to 2024, the Assets team will continue with these initiatives and more, and ensure that upon their completion, best practise and learnings will be shared across the company. These significant achievements reinforce Nakheel’s commitment and alignment with the sustainability goals and strategies of Dubai, building upon Nakheel’s legacy of prioritising environmental stewardship.
